It’s not enough that you take care of your kids, your home, your work and even your business…
You need to make sure that you also take care of yourself. For us mums, to be able to genuinely share to others the love that we have for them, it should all start with loving ourselves.
What better way to do that than to prioritise self-care. I mean not only caring about our physical bodies but feeding our minds with positive thoughts, self-love and motivation..
One of the things that I personally do to take care of myself mentally and emotionally is to listen to a podcast.
Listening to a podcast is a great option for self care. They nourish your mind. They give you time to switch off from your world and listen to something inspiring, funny or something that makes you emotional. Podcasts are also great to listen to while you are taking your baby for a walk (two self care activities at the same time) or while you are driving. They can be considered a kind of meditation because you are focusing on something else other than your overthinking mind.
Now let me share with you my personal favourites, my top 5 podcasts for mums in 2021.
Beyond the Bump
The first on my list is Beyond the Bump. It is a podcast that targets mums like you and me who want to listen to real discussions and life questions with authentic and honest people. This podcast is hosted by Jayde Couldwell and Sophie Pearce and I personally recommend this podcast because it provides mums, whether you’re new to being a mum or not, the right guidance and pieces of advice that you need to hear. Beyond the Bump is a great choice to listen to because they will make you feel supported, more understood and feel lighter despite your daily grind.

Australian Birth Stories
Australian Birth Stories is a website that features real mums’ stories about motherhood. What I love about it is they showcase raw and real stories and experiences of women about pregnancy and childbirth. This is a great option to listen to especially for new mums who feel anxious or confused about the whole pregnancy and childbirth process.

Am I a Bad Mum
Am I a Bad Mum is a great podcast which discusses the ultimate question that we usually ask ourselves as mums…Am I a Bad Mum? I love the way they talk about real issues that we have with our kids. We love our kids and adore them like angels but the reality is they drive us nuts! (Am I right?) This podcast is a perfect platform for us to be able to relate to the things that they share and can really help you get rid of that mum guilt.

The Motherkind Podcast
If you are looking for a happy dose of well-being as a mum and on the path of personal development and self-inquiry, then The Motherkind podcast is perfect for you. Each episode, Motherkind founder and coach Zoey Blaskey invites well-being teachers who talk about various topics from dealing with anxiety and how to be calm during a toddler meltdown to self care and simple everyday tools to help you have a more positive day. I love this podcast because you get to hear a variety of topics that revolve around mental and emotional health for mums, which is usually taken for granted.

Happy Mum Happy Baby
If you love the balance of frank and heartwarming discussions, then Happy Mum Happy Baby is definitely for you. I recommend this to mums who are looking for assurance and pieces of advice around different aspects of parenthood. It covers everything from the challenges, rewards, the highs and the lows that each parent encounters. Happy Mum Happy Baby will remind you that no parent is perfect! No one is! But what Giovanna Fletcher, the founder and host of this podcast, highlights is that we as mums, are not perfect but we can definitely try to be the best parent for our children. That thought alone warms my heart. Because it’s so true, we make mistakes but we strive everyday to allow our children to feel our support, understanding and love.
